Alec's objective function is to transition the biological tinkering of present-day to a fully-fledged engineering discipline. He received his PhD in Biological Engineering from MIT, where he focused on genetic circuit design.

ALEC NIELSEN
Co-Founder & CEO

Raja is co-founder of Asimov. He received his PhD from MIT’s Biological Engineering PhD program, where he invented computational biophysical tools to rationally engineer therapeutics and proteins. Concurrent with his PhD, Raja co-founded a biotechnology startup, which has products entering the clinic in 2018.

RAJA SRINIVAS
Co-Founder

Doug's interests involve applying automation techniques to the design of living systems. He is also an associate professor at Boston University in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. His background is in the development of software tools for synthetic biology. He received his PhD from UC Berkeley.

DOUGLAS DENSMORE
Co-Founder

Chris is a Professor of Biological Engineering at MIT. He is the Co-Director of the Synthetic Biology Center and co-founder of the MIT-Broad Foundry. He received his BSE in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and PhD in Biophysics from Caltech.

Joe leads the engineering group at Asimov. Prior to this, Joe lead machine learning teams at Quora and at URX (Y-combinator, acquired by Pinterest). In these roles, he helped to build recommendation systems to personalize content discovery, algorithms to optimize advertisement targeting and machine learning models for search and discovery. Outside of work he enjoys running, glamping and writing.

Kat leads the bacteria synthethic biology team and all things lab operations at Asimov. Prior to Asimov she worked at Sample6 engineering bacteriophages, and completed her PhD thesis on engineering E. coli towards improving production of value-added compounds. When not in the lab or office, Kat enjoys cooking and traveling.
